Viral Fashion Trends Taking Over 2024

Every industry is subject to trends, but this is particularly true for the fashion one. The whole point of fashion is about creating trends and making designs into must-have outfits.

The way in which those trends are created is different in 2024 though. In the past, they trickled down gradually from the catwalks to the shops and pages of fashion magazines.

Now it all happens much more quickly and that is due to the internet.

How to Stay on Top of Fashion Trends

The best way to know what is hot and what is not within the fashion world today is to be online. These days, trends start and spread on social media.

A combination of its global reach and the algorithms that promote popular content enables designs to go viral. This is how a hot fashion trend kicks off now, but what are the viral trends for 2024?

Blazers

Blazers have become a big deal this year. It is not every type that will have you looking on-trend though.

Block colors are much more fashionable than prints and patterns at the moment. In most cases that means a classic navy or black blazer worn with anything from a button-down shirt to a t-shirt.

The look is finished off with boots or sneakers and jeans.

Bell-Bottoms

Out are the skinny jeans and in are the alternative styles such as Bell-Bottoms.

This modern interpretation of the classic bell-bottom look provides a high fashion denim style that provides a folded look around your shoes. Whether you like the faux leather look or patchwork style, there is a version of these jeans for everyone’s personal liking.

Stacked Denim

When it comes to the type of jeans that people are wearing this year, 2024 is the year of stacked denim jeans.

These are proving a hit with men and women and they have their origins in street styles. Nowadays you can buy the look easily online and it adds ‘distressed’ texturing to standard jeans.

The denims should be worn with other urban-flavored clothes. That means a graphic print t-shirt, sneakers and perhaps a hoodie.

Kitten Heels

Viral trends in female shoes have taken a distinctly retro turn this year. A number of shoe styles that were popular with older generations of women have made a comeback.

One example of that is the kitten heel. As is so often the case though, the trick lies in putting a modern spin on it.

That can mean adding a pointed toe, or a very fashionable metallic hue. Dior has fitted its new kitten heel range with ribbon sling backs.

The versatility of these shoes means they can be styled with any outfit. For a party, wear them with a cocktail or mini dress.

For work or casual affairs, combining them with a shirt and slacks will show you know what trendy is.

Metallic Colors

Colors and designs that are intended to look metallic are a key trend for 2024. It actually began to build during 2023, but has really taken off this year.

That means tops with a silver look in particular, but it also applies to accessories. Jewelry is trending hot among young women and it is mostly silver rather than gold.

Wearing a simple silver necklace will let you augment casual or formal outfits equally well. These can be bought online or at high street jewelry stores.

Oversized Sweatpants

The trend towards oversized clothing continues this year. It has the practical effect of being comfortable, but it also signals that you know what is fashionable.

Brands like Travis Scott Merch have gone all in on the trend, so it is not hard to pick items up. The best pieces to wear in large sizes would be sweatpants.

They should be paired with an equally oversized hooded top. They can be bold graphic prints or simple block pastel colors.

Finish the look with a pair of sneakers, as shoes or boots are not a good match. This is another viral trend that started out as street fashion and has now reached the mainstream.

Now you know what the fashion trends are for this year, so it is time to get shopping.
